Discovery NM 530c Installed
The Nuclear Medicine section of the Department of Radiology at VCU Medical Center has taken another step in its continuing efforts to improve patient care and safety by purchasing and installing a new Discovery NM 530c Gamma Camera from GE.
This camera provides detailed pictures of the heart that will enable diagnosing physicians to quickly and more easily be able to diagnose and treat heart disease.
In doing so, it can reduce scan time from 15-20 minutes to 3-5 minutes, thereby greatly improving the comfort for the patient.
In addition, the radiation dose can be reduced compared to previous technology by 30% - 70% depending on the type of study greatly enhancing radiation safety for our patients.
Once again, the Department of Radiology at the VCU Medical Center has demonstrated its committment to serving the community by improving patient care and comfort.
