The mission of the VCU Department of Radiology is to create a world-class department by providing optimal care in a patient-centered environment, providing sub-specialty expertise, providing top quality imaging and therapeutic procedures, and to advance medical education and research, with a vision to create a department that is recognized as top tier nationally and internationally.

Faculty Opportunities

The VCU Department of Radiology is currently recruiting for four faculty positions; Cardiothoracic Imaging, General Radiology, Pediatric Imaging Section Chief, and Neuroradiology Imaging.

American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification or documentation of passing the Core Component of the ABR Board examination is required. Applicants must be eligible for a Virginia medical license and for permanent employment in the United States.

Interest in teaching is a requirement to support our 36 residents and multiple fellows. The Department offers research opportunities and participates in numerous ongoing interdisciplinary research projects with many departments. 

The applicant must demonstrate experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU. 

Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.

Radiology at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals

The Medical College of Virginia Hospitals has 822 beds, a Level 1 Trauma Center, a comprehensive cancer center, an active transplantation service, and extensive outpatient services at the downtown Richmond campus and in the surrounding localities.

All of our locations offer state-of-the-art computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, mammography, and radiography equipment.

A new, 16-story floor Adult Outpatient Pavilion opened in 2021 as well as a new, free-standing children’s hospital in 2022.
