Emergency Radiology Fellowship

Our one-year fellowship in emergency radiology (ER) focuses on the full range of imaging in an emergency department setting. The fellowship includes imaging of trauma patients and those with medical and non-traumatic surgical conditions. In addition to time in the emergency radiology department, the fellow will spend time in neuroradiology, abdominal imaging and cardiothoracic imaging to focus on interpretation and management of ER-related conditions.

The fellow will learn the full range of computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, conventional imaging and, where appropriate, magnetic resonance (MR) findings for ER patients. Fellows are under the supervision of four dedicated emergency radiology attendings in a busy, urban emergency room at a large academic tertiary care medical center which is a Level 1 Trauma Center and a designated stroke center. Our emergency radiology section is active 24/7/365, generating and interpreting approximately 100,000 studies per year. There are two dedicated state-of-the-art Siemens CT scanners located in the Emergency Department in addition to conventional imaging and ultrasound.

The fellow will be actively involved in all aspects of emergency radiology and will learn how to protocol and triage studies in an emergency setting while working with a team of emergency and subspecialty physicians. The fellow will also become versed in regulatory, compliance and legal issues associated with an emergency radiology practice.
